Precious Russian jewelry to animate fairy tale heros

Published: 05 January, 2007, 08:15

Cockerel with the golden crest, a hero from Russian fairy tales, has come to life in real gold. Jewellers in Southern Russia art school working with precious metals and stones have got ready for a new exhibition.

These professionals specialize in works of art and luxuries. Sophisticated buyers can recognize the classic style of Faberge, Cartier and Bolin. But perhaps less known is technology developed by Russian jewelers, who've invented new kinds of guilloche enamel. Each piece is carefully crafted by young jewelers. They say they need only an open heart and deft fingers.

There are not many schools training young designers in the world. If we have a look into art history, we can find probably only one example – the famous creative association of German artists, Bauhaus that forms vanguard trends in the art world.

Clocks and statuettes have become adornments of celebrities, boudoirs, VIPs and offices all over the world. Some of them were even given to the Kremlin as a gift.
