Russia's Progress M-65 transport ship has successfully docked with the International Space Station, delivering three and a half tonnes of supplies to the crew.

Besides equipment, fuel, water and food the cosmonauts also received sweets, fruit, DVDs and presents from their families.

Progress also took the first computerised spacesuit. It directs the cosmonauts before they go into space and informs them of any problems and gives advice.

Biotechnologists have also sent out some plant strains to examine cell culture development in space as part of a medical experiment.

The docking was initially scheduled for September 13 but was delayed. Progress M-65 launched from Baikonur last Wednesday.
