Bosnia & Herzegovina are the favourites to win the first Semi-Final at the Eurovision contest in Moscow on May 12, an opinion poll conducted by the international Eurovision Song Contest fan club has shown.

So far, according to journalists and fans, Bosnia & Herzegovina’s Regina is number one in the race at the semi-final contest.

Members of the Sarajevo pop-rock band Regina say, should they win the Eurovision contest, they are ready to host the event next year. “Sarajevo hosted the Olympic Games twenty five years ago. We can handle Eurovision!”

Regina’s entry is called ‘Bistra Voda’. The band was set up 19 years ago and was a huge success in Bosnia and the former Yugoslavia. However, during the Bosnian war in the mid-nineties, the band split up. All its members launched their solo careers but weren’t that popular after the band fell apart. They finally teamed up again in 2004 and three years later performed as a support act to the Rolling Stones.

“Everybody in our country is looking forward to our victory. There will be a huge celebration. Everybody is invited,” promise members of Regina.

But before booking your flight to Sarajevo, wait till Tuesday.
