Roger Federer conquers new sports peak

Published: 19 February, 2007, 17:01

Swiss master Roger Federer has written his way into the record books once again. The 25-year-old has, from Monday, been the number-one-ranked player in the world for 160 weeks – equalling Jimmy Connors's 30-year-old record.

Federer has been at the summit of the game since February 2004.

And he will officially break the mark next week, when he attempts to secure his 4th Dubai Open title.

This comes after another incredible achievement at last month's Australian Open when the Basel born pro became the first man in 27 years to win a grand slam without dropping a set.
