Russia gears up to celebrate New Year

While the western world is gearing up to celebrate Christmas in two days' time, Russia is doing the same for the New Year. Russian Christmas is on January 7, but for most Russians it's still the New Year that is the most celebrated holiday.
Let's visit some Russian cities to see what special treats they've prepared for their residents over the holiday.

'Santa shuttle' heads for International Space StationThe Russian shuttle Progress M62 has taken off for the International Space Station. The cargo ship will deliver some Christmas cheer to crew members, as well as much needed supplies. It's expected to dock on Wednesday after a three-day journey. |
