The film almanac “Crush”, by young Russian directors, has made it to the program of the 66th Venice International Film Festival.
“The short stories united in the film almanac are dedicated to the themes of love and mutual relations, as seen through the eyes of a new generation of Russian cinematographers,” the producer of the film, Sabina Yeremeyeva, told RIA Novosti.
All five filmmakers: Pyotr Buslov, Ivan Vyrypaev, Aleksey German Jr, Kirill Serebrennikov and Boris Khlebnikov – were personally invited to present their film in Venice. The film will be displayed within the "Horizons" program.
The producer has added that the film will be screened in Russian cinemas right after the festival in Venice – from September 19.
The 66th Venice Film Festival will open on Lido Island on September 2, and will last through to September 12. Giuseppe Tornatore’s “Baaria”, featuring Monica Bellucci in the lead, will open the film marathon.
According to Variety.com, the program will include, among others, “A Single Man” – a directorial debut from famous fashion designer Tom Ford, Steven Soderberg’s “The Informant”, Michael Moore’s documentary about the financial crisis entitled “Capitalism: the Love Story”, Wes Anderson’s “Fantastic Mr Fox”, Todd Solondz’s “Life During Wartime”, and Michele Placido’s “The Big Dream”. The creator of “Office Space” and “Beavis and Butthead”, Mike Judge, will air his new comedy “Extract”.
Besides the basic competition, in which the Gold and Silver lions will be presented to the winners, the 66th Venice Film Festival will present the “Horizons” program, and also a shorts competition. A special section was introduced for 3D-films.
