Russian football: Kazan keeps 100% record

Matchday six of the Russian Premier League saw Kazan’s Rubin equal Dinamo Moscow’s 1995 record of starting the season with six straight wins. The victory stretches Rubin’s lead at the top. They’re now four points ahead of Dinamo.
Rubin 1–0 Amkar
The hosts came close to breaking the deadlock on numerous occasions, but it wasn’t until the 67 minute that Rubin finally found the net.
Good work from Yevgeny Balyaikin led to a cross, which was eventually met by captain Sergey Semak, whose shot slid under the Amkar keeper.
The visitors did perk up somewhat after that, but Rubin were always in control to secure a 1-0 victory.
Shinnik 3–2 Khimki
The men from Yarolslavl were involved in a tight old tussle with Khimki. It was the home side who got the ball rolling right on the cusp of half time, Anton Hazov making no mistake from close range.
But Khimki, who were also seeking their first win of the season, fought back soon after the break. Midfielder Eldar Nizamutdinov fouled in the box, Dragan Blatnyak did the rest.
But then on 51 minutes, Shinnik restored their advantage through Denis Boyarintsev after good work from Yuris Larizans on the outside. Khimki did level things again – through another penalty from Blatnyak.
But the day was to belong to Shinnik. The goal of the game came from Maksim Buznikin with a breathtaking strike – worthy of all 3 points.
Krlya Sovetov 3–0 Tom
Last week's draw against champions Zenit showed that one of the most eye-catching Premier League sides, Krylya Sovetov, are capable of competing with the giants.
The fully packed Samara stadium promised to be a tough test for Tom. And Krylya kept the visitors' keeper Sergey Pareyko busy early on.
Ruslan Adzhindzhal provided Evgeniy Savin with a cross and Savin headed it home brilliantly for the opener after 20 minutes.
Tom had a great chance to level the game when Valery Klimov found himself unmarked in the box, but he put it over.
Then Krylya punished them. Juan Escobar's cross missing three Tom players before Andrey Tikhonov easily made it 2-0. Poor play from the visitors’ defence.
And the hosts almost increased their lead to three goals but another Savin header hit the post.
But they eventually got the third five minutes from time when Andrey Tikhonov's cross was headed in by Anton Bober.
FC Moscow 1–1 Dynamo
Dinamo were dominant in the first half and deservedly took the lead just a minute before half-time when former Sevilla striker, Alexandr Kerzhakov, picked the ball up 25 metres out and unleashed an unstoppable drive past FC Moscow keeper Yury Zhevnov.
FC Moscow drew level six minutes into the second half, when Dinamo keeper Anton Shunin failed to deal with a free-kick giving Aleksandr Epuryanu the simplest of tasks to equalise.
FC Moscow were reduced to ten men late on, as Branislav Krunich was sent off for a second bookable offence, but Oleg Blokhin's men held on for a point.
Saturn 1–1 Zenit
Dick Advocaat’s men clinched last year’s title in the last game of the championship at Saturn’s stadium in Moscow Region’s town of Ramenskoe.
But today it was the home team that opened the scoring. Zelau put the ball in the net after terrible handling by Zenit keeper Vyacheslav Malafeev five minutes before the break.
In the second half Saturn should have made the game safe, but were punished for not taking their chances. Zenit equalised moments before the end with a Roman Shirokov header to make the final score 1-1.
Spartak Nalchik 1–2 Spartak
Spartak Moscow came from behind to beat Spartak Nalchick. Velliton scored the winning goal just before the hour mark. There was a hint of offside about the goal but it counted.
CSKA 0–0 Lokomotiv
A goalless tie for two of Russia’s ex-champions both seeking to forget the unsuccessful season of 2007.
Terek 2–1 Luch Energia
The Grozny side received the benefit of the doubt just four minutes in, when Sergey Serdukov claimed to have been brought down in the area. Vladislav Kulik slotted the resulting penalty to make it 1-0.
The home side then doubled their advantage on the stroke of half-time. The referee gave the goal despite Luch-Energia players’ claims of handball before Vladimir Kuzmichev scored Terek’s second.
The men from Vladivostok did halve the deficit right at the end, but by then the points were safely in Terek's hands.
