Russian footballer goes Spanish

Published: 28 December, 2006, 15:13

Footballer Alexander Kerzhakov has joined Spanish side Sevilla. The striker's current club, Zenit, announced it would receive around 15 MLN euros for Kerzhakov, who's scored almost a hundred goals.

Kerzhakov arrived in Spain on Wednesday, to sign a contract with the 2006 UEFA Cup winners.

After playing for Zenit for around 5 years, the Russian striker will make his debut as a Sevilla player on Saturday.

Conflicting reports came from the Spanish media. Some said Kerzhakov had already signed the contract, while Sevilla officials claimed contract negotiations were still going on.
