Russian guides Dynamo Kiev to football trophy

Dynamo Kiev has been crowned Channel One Cup champion in Tel Aviv for the first time. The Ukrainian football league champions beat fierce rivals Shakhtar on penalties to claim their first major success under Russian coach, Yuri Syomin.
For the first time in the three-year history of the tournament the final featured two Ukrainian clubs.

The regular time ended with a goal-less draw, but it was two all after thirty extra minutes of play, the scene was set for a dramatic finale in penalties.
This miss by Aleksey Hai – Shakhtar's fifth – left the score hanging tantalizingly at 4-4.
Coaches and fans alike could barely watch as Artyom Milevski got ready to strike.
He put it in, causing utter delight and despair in equal measures at the Bloomfield Stadium.
Dynamo clinch their first title under new head coach Yuri Syomin, appointed in December.
Dynamo's bonuses include a $US 1 million cheque and of course the bragging rights.
