The popular online messenger service QIP has promised to connect users’ accounts to Russian phone numbers.

The innovation will allow QIP users to answer their home and cell phone calls through the computer – wherever they are – at local rates.

At the moment, QIP users can make free calls to other users and send free SMS messages. For extra money, they can call their friends from Russia and abroad.

On the world market, the niche is occupied by Skype: its users, in 25 countries around the world, can receive their calls on their computer. The service, however, is not rendered to Russian users.

QIP is the second most popular Internet messenger in Russia. Its monthly audience amounts to 10.2 million people.
