Russian opera singer Anna Netrebko is to star in the Metropolitan's production of Donizetti's “Anne Boleyn”. The New York theatre plans to stage all three operas from the Tudor Trilogy by the Italian composer.
The Russian soprano was offered all the three leading roles, but she accepted only the first one.
Netrebko says she is very excited to be taking on the part, and she's also happy to know that she gets to escape death!
The opera ends just before Anne Boleyn is beheaded.
