Top Russian swimmers continue their pursuit for a cherished place on the Olympic team. Another five finals were held on the fourth day of the Russian Swimming Championships.

Danila Izotov from Ekaterinburg set a new national record in the 200-metre freestyle. He left behind European champion Nikita Lobintsev and world champion Sergey Fesikov.

And there was no surprise in the women's 100-metre backstroke. Eighteen-year-old Anastasia Zueva from Moscow claimed her second gold medal at this event.

Another youngster, sixteen-year-old Yulia Efimova from Rostov was a third of a second off her own national record, which she set the day before in the semi-final. She broke the record twice in two days and sealed gold with an impressive one minute seven seconds in the 100-metre breaststroke final.

In the men's 100-metre backstroke Arkady Vyatchanin claimed his second gold of the tournament with a 54 second top finish.

And finally, the veteran of the national team Natalia Soutiagina, proved her worth by coming first in the 50-metre butterfly.
