Russian viola master wins Grammy

Russian classical musicians were in the running for two prizes at the 50th Grammy Awards. World-famous conductor and viola player Yury Bashmet together with the Moscow Soloists’ Orchestra, won in the Best Small Ensemble performance category.
However there was disappointment for glamourous opera diva Anna Netrebko's fans. She was upstaged by Lorraine Hunt Lieberson in the battle for the Best Classical Vocal performance.
Last year she was named musician of the year by Musical America magazine.
