As Christmas gets closer, Moscow gets more and more symbols of the holiday. The Main Christmas Fir-Tree is set on the Cathedral Square of the Kremlin.

The fir giant is thirty-metres high and weighs about ten tonnes. The hundred-year-old tree was brought to the capital from Moscow region.

Being the main symbol of Christmas and New Year, it will spend three weeks brightening Cathedral Square. 

The beauty queen of the forest has put on her best Christmas dress.

It is decorated with 2,000 of toys with a traditional red star on the top of the tree.

The monument to Yury Dolgoruky, Moscow

The monument to the city’s founder Yury Dolgoruky has been brightened up with a traditional prince's coat similar to the Father Frost outfit.

It took the organisers almost three weeks to design and make the 8-metre long coat, not taking into account the numerous fittings and remodelling.

They say it won’t keep the copper statue from getting cold, but it will surely make passers-by smile during the holiday season.
