What do Russia's tennis star Maria Sharapova and pop diva Madonna have in common? No, it's not their singing voices, but rather the choice of bodyguards.
During her Federation Cup match in Israel, Sharapova made it a condition she had the same bodyguards as Madonna – the guys known as 'Men in Black'.
The condition was met and perhaps it contributed to her beating 35-year-old Tzipora Obziler, in Sharapova's Fed Cup debut.
On Sunday the Australian Open champion won again, tearing apart Shahar Peer.
Russia now plays either the United States or Germany in the Fed Cup semi-final on April 26-27.
Tatarstan rejoices in Black Gold wealthOn Sundays Kazan residents flock to local bazaars to buy and sell locally made goods – a centuries-old way of doing business not just in Tatarstan but across the globe. The region has always been an important trade route and a hub for business. |
