Does the series’ success in this country mean a new generation of women has emerged? The chief editor of a glossy magazine of the same name as the series says yes. Maria Lobanova is convinced the new magazine will find its audience among career-oriented women in theirs 30s.
2004 saw the release of a Russian equivalent of Sex and the City. Entitled Balzac Age, the producers said their series were closer to the mentality of Russian women than its American counterpart. Even so, the main concept was the same – finding the one, perfect match, and the ups and downs that go with it.
