Snow chariots compete in Moscow

Muscovites have flocked to the capital’s racecourse for the start of the annual Troika Championship. The popular event has trios of horses drawing traditional Russian sledges.
This year sees the competition resurrected after a two-year break due to a lack of snow in previous years.
Ten troikas and 30 horses from different Russian regions are competing in the main race.
However, speed is not the only thing the judges are looking at. They also take into account elegance and how well the horses and carriages are turned out.
