Rubin’s Karadeniz goes down after Bystrov’s tackle

In the Russian Premier League there's been a rude awakening for leaders Rubin Kazan. Their 100 per cent record was shattered by a 3-0 home defeat to Spartak Moscow.

The pacy Velliton got things going for Spartak, the Brazilian notching his fifth goal of the season. Midway through the second half Nikita Bazhenov doubled Spartak's lead, and minutes later Aleksandr Pavlenko walked in number three for the visitors.

Relief for a Spartak side desperately in need of a win as Rubin tasted defeat for the first time this season. And defeat for Rubin has given the chasing pack some hope.

Krylya Sovietov were among those to take advantage. Victory over Amkar took Leonid Slutsky's side to fourth place, within eight points of the leaders.

The home team could hardly pick a team for the match due to the large number of injured and suspended players, but they managed to go ahead 1-0 in the first half – Oleg Ivanov the scorer. And in the second, substitute Anton Bober put in a superb long distance effort just seconds after arriving on the pitch.

Just above them, third-placed Dynamo Moscow slipped up with a 2-0 loss at Shinnik. It was an open game with chances on both sides. But Shinnink clinched the match with two goals in the last 15 minutes. Lazarov delivered from penalty spot, and Bayarintsev finished a counter-attack with a header.

Oleg Blokhin celebrated his first win as FC Moscow manager with a comfortable victory in Nalchik.

Roman Adamov scored twice, his first coming from the penalty spot He then pounced on a rebound to slot his and his side's second. Then a free-kick from Dmitry Godunok wrapped up a 3-0 win courtesy of a wicked deflection. The win moves FC Moscow off the bottom of the table.
