An international film festival aimed at raising human rights awareness opens in Russia’s Tambov Region.

The “Stalker” festival is highlighting films focusing on the legal consciousness of Russian society through the medium of cinema. Organizers of the festival emphasize that “Stalker” is a non-political and non-profit event.

Since its inception in 1995, the festival’s motto has remained as follows: “human dignity and justice for all of us”. The festival got its name from Andrey Tarkovsky’s sci-fi drama “The Stalker”.

Five feature films and documentaries will be screened in the town of Michurinsk on July 20-24, with entrance to all of the screenings free of charge.
