A group of enthusiasts have used one of the city's most famous landmarks as a backdrop for a stellar light-show.
The show is a Christmas and New Year gift to St. Petersburg from a group of light technicians. They've come together for a special purpose – to create a unique music and light performance using the historic Mikhailovsky Palace as a screen.
Not only did the organisers have to pool their skills, they also had to synchronise the lightning with music. The organisers say no one has ever staged a performance like this. The show continues until January 7.
