They bang, clamour and jump. The dance troupe STOMP is in Moscow, ready to grab a trash bin and a broom, hit the stage and make some music.

It’s the third time a STOMP troupe is performing in the Russian capital. It will perform for six nights in a row at Moscow’s Palace of Youth (June 3-8, 7 p.m.)

In their hands, everyday objects  – brooms, lids, drumsticks, boxes of Matches etc – become musical instruments.

The non-traditional troupe has created a genre of its own. They make music for the eyes and create dances for the ears.

The original STOMP was created in Brighton, UK, in the summer of 1991. It was the result of a ten year collaboration between its creators – Luke Cresswell and Steve McNicholas.

Today, there are several companies performing around the world. Each group has members from different countries who fly into one place to rehearse together before their shows.
