Russia's newest Sukhoi fighter jet has successfully accomplished its first demonstration flight. The SU-35 Flanker which is one step away from the fifth generation planes, spent six minutes in the skies, showing off a number of manoeuvres.
Its cute. Too bad its got the radar cross section of a twin engine fighter. Those will be dropped from the sky before they even know they are head to head with an F-22
I would have liked to have seen more footage of the actual flight.
Almost all air-to-air kills are from beyond visual range. So while dogfighting ability is important, it doesn't do you any good if your enemy can see you, but you can't see him. Until an effective coutermeasure to stealth technology is developed, the F-22 and F-35 will dominate.
This is very interesting. In a turning fight the F15C has the edge. While the SU 35 has a thrust to weight ratio of 1.14:1 the F15 C is 1.30:1 at full load for air to air missions. The F15C also has a lower wing loading and can sustain a 7 G turn at Mach1.6. Folks want to talk about the "cobra" maneuver. But that requires that the aircraft depart stable aerodynamic flight, shed almost all kinetic energy and be at stall speed. Any pilot who does that is a sitting duck. It's cute but not for a close in fight. The Super Flanker has many features for standoff BVR attacks that are very good. But the new Silent Eagle is a killer. An F15C with stealth low radar cross section technology, internal weapons bays and super cruise. An advanced counter measures suite and radar make this a fighter that the Super Flanker is no match for either standoff or close in.
Very Nice Jet . Enless we sell stealth Tech to our Rivals , the F-22 will still be going up against Max'd out 1980's Technology from the Su-35. Sadly For the F-22 , The Future of Air Superiority will be in Huge numbers of Cheep Remote Drones !
This plane is little compared to American F-22's and F-35's. Without a better radar cross section and features, this plane is nothing when facing American Fighter Jets.
It's always easy to belittle the enemy's capabilities---but with the independent thrust vectoring and multi-angle funneling of the thrust, this fighter is a formidable opponent and capable (depending upon the pilot, as has always been the case) of destroying piecemeal anything we've got. This is especially true if we 'invade' their territory. Look at history.
It has happened before , claims by manufacturers and States go head to head until combat is engaged. The Indian Air Force's Folland Gnats , the original aircraft of the Royal Airforce ' s Red Arrows became known as the F86 Sabre killer in the Indo/Pakistan war. The Gnat was designed by Bill Petter whom designed the Canberra and Martin B57.
that might be all great but everybody knows that the british Eurofighter Typhoon is the best plane in the world. period. computer simulations showed that even an f22 wouldnt stand a chance against it.
It seems to me the F-22, and American stealth aircraft of all types rely on satellite technology for navigation and weapons deployment. Since we know that, in part is true, the Chinese have demonstrated thay have the capability to destroy satellites with rocketry. The Russian Airforce probably does too. There may even be laser cannon capability available. In any prolonged conflict, it seems to me, the SU 35 Russian aircraft may well have the survivable upper hand in a related conflict with any Western fighter hardware. Be that as it may, from an esthetic point of view, the Russian SU-35, in my opinion, is one of the most beautiful aircraft I have ever seen. Truly a tribute to aircraft design excellence.
even though they have developed su 35 , its still no match for f22 when it comes to beyond visual combat ,we need to wait and watch for hal pak fa ,which will be a night mare for americans ,i promise you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't think it could out fly or fight an F16 and it would be no match at all for a Raptor. Russia makes very good planes and boosters but their fighters are not very good for anything but flying fast in a straight line.
It takes more than a good plane, we have more combat air time than any country in the world. It's a different story when someone is shooting back.
at the end of the day it is not the appearance or technicalmumbo jumbo like speed etc etc which matters ut man behind guiding the plane which matters the most
It looks to me like they have succeeded in stealing the design for another American war plane.
World War 2 gave us a lesson we should not forget. The SU-35 and the F-22 Raptor make me think of it. The fights between German tiger tanks and the american sherman tanks. I know nothing about su-35 except for what I read about it. The same with the F-22 Raptor. I have seen the Raptor fly twice. The German tiger tank was more high tect and had a bigger gun, an 88. Only thing is, there wasn't many of them. The Sherman tank on the other hand were many. The sherman tank won out with it's smaller gun. There are not many Raptors because of cost. If Russia could mass produce the SU-35 cheaper it would give the F-22 Raptor a defeat like the sherman did the tiger. I think the F-22 is the best.. The F-15 is cheaper and a great airplane. Keep impoving it till the robot planes take over! The hardware in the F-22 is so secret that Japan is not allowed to buy the plane or anyone else as far as I know. They are refered to the F-35 lighting joint strick fighter which is made in three different versons. Also A great airplane.
This is a nice airplane. I would like to see the US Air Force invite Russia to a fly-off to compare this new fighter to the american F-22. Tim
