Sweden pick up 3-0 victory over Denmark

Published: 08 June, 2007, 16:02

Sweden have been awarded a controversial 3-0 win for last weekend's match against Denmark which had to be abandoned after a Danish fan ran onto the field and attempted to attack match referee Herbert Fandal.

Denmark had battled back from 3-0 down to 3-3 when Fandal sent off Danish defender Christian Poulsen for punching Markus Rosenberg.

As the referee pointed to the spot with just one minute remaining in the match the fan leapt from the crowd and attempted to assault Fandal. He was intercepted by Danish players before he could cause any harm to the referee. But Fandal made the decision that the match should be abandoned.

Denmark were also fined over 60,000 euros and ordered to play their next four home games at least 250 km away from Copenhagen.
