Nikolay Davydenko has given Russia a healthy 2-0 lead against a depleted Serbia in the Davis Cup. Earlier Mikhail Youznhy beat Nenad Zimonjic despite losing the first set.
Troicki, a Davis Cup debutant, appeared to be tough opposition for the world number four Davydenko.
Although the Russian took the first set 6-3, the Serb didn't give up and won the second 6-1.
The players then exchanged sets, Davydenko took the third, but the Serb kept putting the pressure on and took it to a fifth. However, Davydenko gave his opponent no chance in the fifth set, running out a 6-2 victor.
Earlier the world number eight Mikhail Youznhy beat Nenad Zimonjic. Zimonjic was called in as a last-minute replacement for Serbia's star player Novak Djokovic who was ill.
