Russia’s Mikhail Youzhny has produced the performance of his career to absolutely demolish Rafael Nadal from Spain in the Final of the Chennai Open in India.
World number Two, Nadal, was clearly exhausted following his grueling four-hour semi-final battle against compatriot, Carlos Moya, on Saturday.
But take nothing away from Youzhny, whose hitting from all over the court was inspired throughout.
The match ended 6-0, 6-1, giving a fourth ATP tour title for the 25-year-old Muscovite.
Perhaps more importantly, it’s a huge boost for Youzhny ahead of the Australian open, the first grand slam of the year, starting on January 14.
