The best of Russian cinema in competition in Sochi

The Kinotavr film festival is underway in the Russian city of Sochi. Although a national competition, the event boasts the attendance of internationally renowned film makers, such as the director of the Venice festival, Marco Muller.
The acclaimed Italian received a special prize for “promoting Russian films abroad”. The official programme includes 14 movies, featuring such names as Aleksey Balabanov, Kira Muratova, Valery Todorovsky, Andrey Konchalovsky, etc. “I think it would be very interesting for us to work here. It's very important because there are real heavyweights taking part in the festival. So, we just need to relax here and enjoy the professionally made films,” believes jury head Vadim Abdrashitov.
