Total lunar eclipse ends

Stargazers all over the world have been wowed by the sight of a total lunar eclipse. Europe, Africa and the Middle East were among the best places to watch the spectacle. The moon appeared completely obscured for more than an hour.
Lunar eclipses occur when the Earth comes betwen the sun and the moon and blocks the light. The only light to reach the moon has to pass through the Earth's atmosphere, giving the moon a reddish tint. The event could be seen worldwide although weather conditions hampered the view in some countries. The last full eclipse before this one happened three years ago.
