Trip-hop god returns to Moscow

He resolutely denies any stylistic frameworks. In his opinion, music creation is a magical process… The unexcelled king of trip-hop, Tricky, returns to Russia to give a concert in Moscow on September 4.
Tricky (born Adrian Thaws) started his musical career in Bristol together in late 1980s with a group of rappers and DJs The Wild Bunch. The trip-hop band Massive Attack was subsequently formed from this crew.
Together with Massive Attack, Tricky recorded two albums “Blue Lines” (1991) and “Protection” (1994), and then left to start a solo career. Each of his eight albums introduced something new to trip-hop music. The musician altered trip-hop, experimenting with reggae, rock and rap. During his musical career he also worked with Bjork, Garbage, PJ Harvey, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers among others.
However, his debut album is still considered the most successful concerning sales, and the response by music critics.
Tricky was already 28 when he, together with vocalist Martina Topley-Bird, recorded his first album “Maxinquaye”. The album has forever remained a trip-hop classic.
His records were numerously present on different movie soundtracks, including John Woo’s “Face Off”. As an actor, he starred in several TV programs and motion pictures, including Luc Besson’s “Fifth Element”.
In August of last year, Tricky presented his latest album “Knowle West Boy” (2008) in Moscow.
This year the concert of the trip-hop guru will be held in Moscow’s “Elizium” concert hall on September 4.
