Fourteen years after Steven Spielberg’s famous “Schindler’s list”, Russian director Aleksandr Sokurov has received The Time for Peace Film and Music Award for his internationally acclaimed film “Alexandra”. The ceremony took place

Selected purely by the Jury of UN ambassadors based in Geneva, the award only goes to those whose films have a positive influence on millions by promoting eternal values such as tolerance, better understanding between people, respect for differences and human solidarity. “Alexandra” ticked all the boxes.

The founder of the award, Robert Einbeck, called it ‘a real piece of art’ and an ‘extraordinary movie about war without a piece of war.’

The film is about people divided by war and who had to find a common language again after ten years of bloodshed.

Sokurov says the award is very special for him and he is happy the jury understood the essence of the film – not a political one but a humane one ‘where everyone finds something for himself, for his heart.’
