About 250 workers at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport gathered on the runway to mark the 50th anniversary of one of Eastern Europe’s biggest air terminals. They formed a ‘live’ number ‘50’.

For many of the airport’s employees, who mainly work far from the takeoff strip, this was a rare chance to step on the runway.

Sheremetyevo International airport employs some 6,500 workers, who carry out 1,700 different functions.
