Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra performs in Moscow

Published: 24 February, 2007, 11:45

The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra has performed in Moscow's Tchaikovsky Hall.  Guided by the prominent conductor Daniel Barenboim, the concert turned out to be a real treat for music-lovers.

Daniel Barenboim is one of the few conductors who is also an acclaimed prominent pianist. His debut with the Vienna Philharmonic took place in 1989, and he has since then been a regular guest. His concert programmes include compositions by Mozart, Schubert, Schumann and Wagner.

The orchestra conducted by Barenboim has already made appearances in Budapest and Oslo and their next destinations are Valencia, Madrid and New York.

Dieter Flury, the Vienna Philharmonic director, says the orchestra is first of all distinguished by its constant search for perfection:

“If you ask me, what our orchestra focuses on, I'll tell you: our composers. They tried to reach the perfect orchestra sound and we're eager to follow their ideas.”
