Just a few hours after President Medvedev's visit to Vnukovo, the airport was dealing with a full-scale emergency of its own when a Hawker-125 business jet was forced to make an emergency landing.
The flight from Warsaw came down on its belly, after part of its landing gear failed to lower.
It has been reported there were only crew members on board and no one was injured. However, all emergency services were on stand-by next to the runway at the time of landing.
"The plane has already touched town, the landing and air-traffic control were monitored personally by the airport’s general director, Vasily Yegorov. No one has been injured, the plane landed on its fuselage," spokeswoman Yelena Krylova told Interfax on Friday.
The incident caused widespread delays to arrivals at the airport.
