In Poland’s capital Warsaw, city authorities suggested on Tuesday that music fans not willing to pay cash for tickets to a concert of a British-Polish pop duo donate their blood instead.
The action is a part of a drive to attract more people to donating blood. “Anyone who donates blood in September or October will receive the conventional bar of chocolate as well as a concert ticket,” Warsaw city spokeswoman Urszula Majewska told AFP.
Blood donors will receive tickets to the concert of a British musician and producer John Porter and his Polish wife, singer Anita Lipnicka. The couple has sung together since 2001 and has released two albums in the English language.
In addition to the permanent blood donation clinics, in the city center a mobile transfusion station now operates every Wednesday.
