Watch out! Killer bags in fashion

Ladies can't get enough of big bags this season – despite the fact this must-have accessory can damage their health. Health experts say handbags are one of the main causes of back problems in women.
In 2007 big bags were in, and this season their getting even bigger. And fashionistas say the fashion is here to stay.
The editor of Moscow’s Cosmoshopping magazine, Irina Chernyak, says it all began with celebrties.
“This trend exploded with the stars and it’s a very simple style for a normal person to attain: skinny jeans, a simple top – and an enormous bag,” Chernyak said.
But while big bags might be all the rage, these “killer bags” could be killing backs. Smart women might be realising it’s more like “ouch my bag hurts” instead of “ouch my back hurts”.
Physical therapist Valentin Zabela explained what causes the back ache.
“Women wear their bags on one shoulder and this causes one shoulder to become higher than the other. The spine begins to bend and the muscles won’t allow it to fall back in place. This can be an extremely serious problem,” Zabela said.

While many women know it’s bad for them, they can't stop trekking around with their life on their shoulders.
“I don’t own a small bag. Everything fits in my big bag: my wallet, my phone, my brush, lipstick, a laptop, workout clothes…and everything else I need. Small bags just don’t do it!” said Natalia, one of Moscow’s big bag lovers.
Even when helping her daughter to get ready to go out, Natalya always recommends a big bag.
“Maybe it’s bad for you…But I think women often sacrifice their health for beauty and fashion,” she said.
And with the trend of supersized handbags set to stay, women could be battling with more and for longer than they bargained for.
