Artyom is absolutly right. On her own, Russia has progressively improved her economy. She has absolutly no reason to beg for entering in the WTO which is a capitalist oriented organisation, manipulated by America and its puppets. Since the World's economc crisis has shown the faillures of the present system; instead of doing everything necessary to fall in an other fiasco, perhaps could try to initiate something else. Why don't we wait for WTO to beg Russia to join it. Think Positive! Sincerely...Jean-Claude Meslin

WTO has been dangled over Russia's head as an incentive for as long as I can remember. WTO is just a trading organization that supports the Anglo American empire. Russia has been doing just great without it. The economic crisis is no reason to put Russia at the mercy of those who created the crisis in the first place. The fault of Russia's economy is no one's, but her own. Russia failed to diversify the economy and replace Soviet infrastructure during the 8 to 10 years of growth. The oil economy isn't a stable one even though it was for 10 years, one can suffer greatly when a nation relies on one product to sell at market. Russia's attention should be on modernization and diversification. Not just political talk, but action. I think it is a matter of national security. This can be down without the expense of globalization. Why do we have to buy a chicken from Brazil when I have a chicken farm down the street. There are too many middle men and coffers just to pay shipping companies and other distributors. Trade is for valuables one is in short supply like lets say in Russia, BANANAS! Yes that tropical fruit that one says to someone who has gone nuts. WTO is bananas, but I wouldn't need their coffers to be enriched when it can be achieved through bilateral agreements between Latin America and Russia.

Da! Si! Yes! Russia should be able to join the World Trade Organisation, with or without the Customs Union alliance. Russia is now a serious economic power, to be respected.
