Russian scientists want to send two lunar rovers and several landing stations after 2020 as part of the country’s return to the moon. The planned study of polar regions is aimed at eventually creating a permanent manned base there.

How dare the Russians plan a station on the moon! Don't they know that America stuck a flag in it so it belongs to them. Space also belongs to America, that's what gives them the right to say who and who can not launch missiles there.

Oh and another thing the USA doesn't own the moon, If anything it belongs to the Soviet Union. The Luna 2 spacecraft, also known as Lunik 2, put on the moon on Sept. 14, 1959 to become the first man-made object to touch down on the lunar surface.

That has to be the most ignorant thing have ever heard. Soviet Union won the space race by deploying their first satellite and sending the first living animal into space. Followed by countless more space missions before the USA put its space program into effect, and that was two days Yuri Gargarin touched down safely after being the first Man in Space.

When did Russia ever go to the moon? How is this news if the US has its sights on Mars? The US put rovers on Mars, so how is this at all, Russia out doing the US in space.

Once again RT changes the header image of an old headline and re-hashes the same garbage from yesturday. I wonder what image they will use for the same news tommorrow.

Russia leading the world in Aerospace exploration and representing the only hope for mankind, while at the same time America knows it will never go to the moon or anywhere again since all its efforts are concentrated in destrying the world with wars and debt. Jealous much, AmeriCUNTS?

Why is a moon base a joke when Newt Gingrich proposes it but a good idea when Russia proposes it.

Perhaps the United States will let you visit the Moon, but always remember that the moon is US territory.

Nobody really needs a plan like that for getting back to the Moon!!

The draft space research roadmap for Moon exploration of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) is nothing but a highly sophisticated way to drain some huge sums of money out of the Russian state budget. I mean, sending some toy rovers to Moon polar regions and only after 2023 (or 2025-2030?) to start thinking about sending manned missions is way too slow a process for a heavenly body that is so close to Earth. The guys from 60s, like Gagarin, Nelyubov, and others, with their spirit of that time, would do the job in terms of two years.

As for the space exploration RAS is just like NASA: huge, ineffective, impotent, and costly, so if anyone in Russia would want to go to Moon soon, he ought to take care to exclude RAS completely, and to create quite a new space agency. A joint space agency of Russia, China, and India, with all three militaries included, would probably be the most effective solution (and the cheapest one for all three countries).

So nice to see a country with a vision for outer space. The USA cut the shuttle and everything is in limbo right now. Russia dreams big and isn't afraid to go to the moon again!

&n bsp;   Why the heck is it taking such a long time? We've been told the Americans really 'landed' on the moon in the Seventies ( that was when Richard Nixon was president ). I had my doubts! That's forty years ago!! The technology then was so primitive. If indeed there had been a moon landing in the Seventies, why is a return not a piece of cake, with all the modern technology available?! Think about that!

The moon is crawling with Aliens!!! ******* ******************** ******************** ******************** ******************** ******************** ******************** ****First intelligent comment here in weeks. If you want Luna - then you are going to have to fight the critters that are there. Humans have to realise that they are not advanced technologically or genetically to be let off the Earth.
