Absolutely great news, and the right approach, and about time too. Yes we need to talk to NATO, but we need a very narrow interface on both a political and military level. On a political level, we just must try to make sure we prevent misunderstandings, and generate knowledge of interests. On the military level we just need an information and notification system to prevent mistakes. We don't want any councils, or any other grand arrangements, just a simple talking relationship as we should have with any enemy. People are sometimes overly concerned about NATO, they are but just one enemy to handle with tactical and strategic nuclear weapons. We shouldn't focus our efforts too much on them. We have a doctrine to handle them, so really we can just move on to the bigger picture. There are positive forces in the world, we should focus on, to build friendships and alliances, with fireindly cultured people of nations throught the whole world. There is old Europe, Asia, Latin America, to name just a few. The world is a big place, so lets refocus to meet the real challenges. The little dog is well on the leash.
