Russia to request extradition of suspected Chechen militant from Spain

Russia has been preparing to ask Spain to extradite a suspected Chechen militant. Murat Gasayev was detained in the Valencia region as part of a large-scale operation targeting organised Russian crime groups in the country.
According to the Russian side, Gasayev was involved in an armed group accused of committing crimes in Russia in 2003, including terrorism. He was placed on the international wanted list at the end of September.
