The body of a Russian tourist missing in Turkey has been found in the elevator shaft of the hotel he was staying in. Vitaly Bukovsky had not been seen for three days since arriving at the hotel in the Turkish city of Antalya.

A group of Russian tourists he had traveled with only noticed he was missing at the end of their trip when he didn't arrive at the airport.

The Russian Embassy in Turkey said it is co-operating with local police who are investigating the incident.

“The cause of the death of Russian citizen Vitaly Bukovky, who was found dead in an elevator shaft yesterday, will be defined through forensic medical examination and an investigation. Investigators arrived at the site right after he was found yesterday and the Russian General Consulate is constantly in touch with Turkish police who are collecting details of the case,” the Russian Vice-Consul in Turkey Sergey Korotsky said.
