Russia's southern coastal resort of Sochi has been hit by a series of avalanches, blocking major roads.

Power cuts were also reported across the city and in surrounding villages. Supplies have mostly been restored but some remain without electricity.

In neighbouring Georgia several hundred tourists are trapped in the Gudauri ski resort.

Reports say they're not in any danger and have enough food and fuel.

Russian emergency services warn more avalanches are likely.
