Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova may not take part in the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games due to a shoulder injury.

The injury caused third-seeded Sharapova to withdraw from the Montreal Cup after defeating Poland’s Marta Domachowska in the second round.

She said she has periodically felt pain in her shoulder since March this year.

Sharapova added that it puts her participation in the Beijing Olympics under question.
