Showcase protest: Smoking WC ‘worst thing’ at Moscow rally
December 10, 2011 15:55
Tens of thousands have attended a demonstration in Moscow to protest at the conduct of last weekend’s elections. Despite the logistical and security challenges, the event passed off remarkably peacefully and with no confrontations with police.

These Russian protesters are obviously very naive and operating under the assumption that Westerners consider them partners in democracy. Wrong. Westerners consider most Russians as cattle to be exploited.Perhaps many of the younger protesters don't remember the horrible exploitation & corruption NATO brought to Russia in the days of Yeltsin with the pathetic spectacle of a drunk Yeltsin getting laughed at by Clinton. Perhaps these younger protesters don't remember corporate mercenaries, neo-Nazis, Islamists and mafia gangsters fighting under the banner of NATO to destroy the viable country of Yugoslavia. Perhaps they don't notice the sex slaves of Ukraine being bought and sold like cattle. Perhaps these protesters don't remember Russian children being slaughtered by Chechens ....The list goes on...Don't start missing Putin when he's gone.
&n bsp; Count Cash: I`m sure that you are right, that some of the Communist vote was a protest vote, but protest votes are a powerful part of democracy and just as legitimate as any other vote. Conversel y, I have also seen some reports that indicate that some people who support United Russia would otherwise vote Communist, but vote for Putin because he reminds them of a "Soviet man". New World Order, we`ve already had the argument about China; perhaps it can be re-visited at a later date. I will say that one thing I really do like about Putin is that he says he is strongly in favour of increased co-operation with China in all spheres including economic, cultural, diplomatic, and military/strategic, as evidenced by the fact that, after his announcement th at he would run again for president, his first trip abroad was to China. However, don`t kid yourself. Having spoken to some who have recently returned from there, China is very much a socialist state where not one square cm of land in the entire country is privately owned, and with the twin ideological pillars of Marxist-Leninism and Mao Tse-tung thought. Bogdanov: You`re right, there was support from left-wing groups, mainly labour unions, from the west for the Bolsheviks and this support was reciprocal. It was all a part of the internationalist&nbs p;spirit of that time under the slogan of "workers of the world unite", and I don`t see the big hang-up that some nationalists may have about it. It just amounted to poor people trying to make themselves stronger as a group in the face of an overwhelmingly more powerful capital owning class.
Donald, Firstly, I want to tell you that I really like you and I have respect for you. You are brave guy, who is not afraid in the public place, in the heart of the anti-Communism world (considering the fact that the RT is oriented on the Western audience) to defend the ideology, which by the rulers of that world is equalized with the most criminal and inhumane philosophy. I view it as a sign of a strong personality. I could only imagine how much cr.p you could get from the "good citizens" who like bee hive would be ready to attack you. I admire people&n bsp;who go beyond conventional boundaries and explore the world in spite of the danger they are facing...
Secondly, the answer to your question -- I studied the history of Communism (including Russian version of it) in the Soviet school and university (1980s), where it was among mandatory classes. Plus, I was trying to learn about it using other sources. I was always fascinated and attracted by the unique personalities and many Bolsheviks were among them. I have sympathy to them, but, do not share their ideology. I view it as utopian. And I do not support of re-establishing  ;the USSR in its previous form. This was one of reasons, by the way, why I have chosen the alias "Bogdanov" (after, one of the early Bolsheviks Alexander Bogdanov, who later stepped aside and was criticized by Lenin for his opportunistic views). I started to use it in the appropriate context (on the Peter Lavelle's blog) to confront the anti-Soviet guys like Marzipan6 and similar. Later, I went outside of the boundary of that "image", but the alias stuck...
Thirdly, may be you are right and I should be more specific when I said that the West was partially financing Bolsheviks. I didn't mean the Western governments. Those were the European and American left forces, who were supportive the revolutionizes in Russia. The Westerners (again, revolutionaries, not governments) were big part of the Revolution of the 1917. And I you know, one of the biggest criticism Bolsheviks had -- the opponents were trying to present them as the traitors of Russia.
Jason, Thank you, but you don't have to anthologize. This is not your fault. We often assume that all people here are trying to present themselves properly and be respectful to others. In many cases this is true, but, there is always someone or small group of people, who are destroyers by their nature. They either have some severe personal issues or too bored with their mediocre life. Ironically, these are the guys who are complaining about bullying and tyranny coming from someone else...

It is a fact that 97% of the votes went to parties which do not openly claim the type racist blood discourse of the nationalist parties. Today the nationalists rally in Moscow was able to gather only 250 people. Russians want better jobs, equitable distribution of the wealth, less corrupt and accountable government. They are not interested in “blood honour or racial purity” or racists violence conducted in their name.
Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha,haaaaaaa aa! there goes the Nostalgic Kommunist Sympathizer again, your Bold affirmation that the Racist Nationalists Only got 1% is Grossly erroneous and can't be Further from the Truth please Stop spreading dis-i nfo in this Forum.
I'll give to you, your Godless Komminists got 19.1 Perc ent of the Votes but you seem to have forgotten that Vladimir Zhirinovsky's nationalist Party of Russia also got 11.7 percent and in case you don't know The biggest winners of this Election were the Nationalists and they are Putin and his United Russia Party so go on Now and Swallow back your own Words. Sorry Popsickle, Kommunism is dead and buried in russia, consider your Partys 19.1 percent as just a One-off consolation, the Millions of Christian lives that were Slaughtered by your beloved Kommunists are still crying out for Vengeance and they will be Avenged by Divine Retribution. You also Make a Fallacious and Laughable Argument that you Need a New Kind of Devilish Kommunism, well at least you recognize that Kommunism Failed Big TIME which was the main reason for my China Comparison in the First place which you Obviously didn't get but in which ever case I'll tell you the kind of Hybrid System that may fit your Billing and that is Wait for it......

What the Chinese have today is the ideal dream of neo-liberalism: political repression and unfettered economic freedom of the corporate elite. I do not think this is what the Russians want. Russians can have a different system which copies neither the Chinese model nor that of the neo—liberal west. It will be new kind of Kommunism-but will not be like the old Kommunism of the CCCP. Russians need a new kind of collectivism without undermining small business, and entrepreneurial initiatives. But racists nationalists will not gain greater appeal in Russia anytime soon. They did not gain even 1% in the Duma elections that has just concluded.
I don't Know why some Russian Commentators here Love to Eulogize and Reminisce about The good Old days of Kommunism, No doubt the communists did have their Moments but that doesn't Negate the Fact that Millions of Russian Christi ans were Brutally Murdered by the Kommunists Regimes.
Heck ! the Kommunists have had a Long time to Run Russia down hill, almost a Century, Surely that is enough and Moreover if Kommunism was such a Great and wonderful System then why did it Fail, even the Chinese Realized that Kommunism as a System was Too Utopian, Impracticable, infeasible and Simply against the Nature of Man, China today is to all intents and purposes is Kommunist in Name only. So lets Move On from the Past and forget about Godless Kommunism, a New brand of Political Ideology is Gestating and the Future of Russia belongs the Democratic Nationalists of which the likes of Putin are forerunners, Believe it.
Wow! It's Shocking after Broadcasting throughout yesterday about the Next Russian Revolution that will Sweep Putin and co out of Power the good Ol BBC was strangely Silent about Russia Today.
Donald,
There are also other aspects of the current communist Party of Russia which clearly indicate the party is not interests in return to the CCCP. First, by closely assigning itself with the Orthodox Church and by playing up the collective sentiment of returning the stole Motherland back to the people, the current Russia’s Communists Party is speaking with the same language as that of the nationalists but also the working class people. Second, recalling the ethnic designation of the passport and returning the stolen motherland back to the people seeks to at once struggle for economic equality and cultural nationalism. Precisely this is the reason the Communists play up Stalin and primarily Stalin bring back memories of struggle against enemies of the Motherland. Finally, today and since the collapse of the Soviet Union, we have witnessed how the regime change after regime change in the Arab world overthrew national secular government and replacing them with tribalism and religious fanatics. There is no reason to doubt the Bolsheviks got a helping hand from the West which help them smash the old imperial Russian culture, tradition, political and economic structures. The current communists do not seem to appear this is their plan.
