I've changed my mind the opening ceremony was actually pretty darn good. I still hate Putin's homosexuality laws that protect minors

I am so sick and tired to hear about any homosexuals!!! God is my witness I have two best friends who are, but unlike people like you they know there is no discriminaton of homosexuals in Russia and they respect my believes and faith. And one other thing, do not tell us what to do in OUR country and HOW to raise OUR children and we will not tell you where to go

Vladimir Putin had an opportunity to use this occasion to reflect on these four terrible decades, and chose not to. Shame on him.

It' s the olympic games you clown. It's a time for celebration NOT misery. Wake up!.

As a Russian the Sochi Olympics opening looked great, expect when they showed the sickle and hammer and made the Soviet Union look like it was great place after WW2. It was not! We suffer those times...Today’s Russia is much better than any time in the Soviet Union...Today’s Russia is not perfect but it came a long ways, we have more freedom now, and other benefits have been much better than any soviet ones. This is the truth.

I agree with you, but there are still people who ideolize USSR days. I am just glad Tsar times received the emphasis they deserved

BBC 4pm UK, Sochi figure skating, nasty comments from
Robin Cousins levelled at Brilliant Russian skater, another example of media russophobia, absolutely sickening.

I was watching but must of missed the comments. Can you please tell us what he said

As a Russian the Sochi Olympics opening looked great, expect when they showed the sickle and hammer and made the Soviet Union look like it was great place after WW2. It was not! We suffer those times. Most of that part was lies and propagandize. None of that really happened. Today’s Russia is much better than any time in the Soviet Union. Only if you were a government office and if you brain washed then you would have missed the Soviet Union. Today’s Russia is not perfect but it came a long ways, we have more freedom now, and other benefits have been much better than any soviet ones. This is the truth.

Are you a pedophile supporter ?

The law protects children - try reading the text of the law not the media lies !

The opening ceremonies exhibited the brilliance of Russian ingenuity and creativity; however, the organizers deliberately left out the most tragic period of modern Russian history.

The four decades after 1905 left an indelible blood stain upon the Russian people and the ceremonies should have paid a tribute to the tens of millions of Russians who died at the hands of the commies and invading Germans.

Vladimir Putin had an opportunity to use this occasion to reflect on these four terrible decades, and chose not to. Shame on him.

The opening ceremony was stunning to watch on TV. People, you have no idea how it felt being in the stands among the Russians and watching it all live. Among the people, you are infused with that feeling or something immaterial, all the mercantile things are unimportant. I wonder if this is a new standard for opening ceremonies. That would be nice.

Lies? You wouldn't know the truth if it punched you in the face. You and lots of other RT fans see only one side of the story which is the one RT gives you and therefore you see nothing at all

Yet again the current Prime Minister of Canada shamed our country, this time by not attending the magnificent Olympic opening ceremonies. Please do not judge Canadians by the boorish actions of this man, most of us voted against him but we split our votes among opposition parties and must now endure his misrule.

Douglas Dewar 09.02.2014 04:09

I hope Canada wins the hockey golds.

Douglas Dewar 09.02.2014 04:08

I watched the televised Olympic opening celebration ceremonies on the Canadian broadcasting channel. Absolutely Magnificent ! Congratulations to Russia ! What a show. These Olympics are going to be wonderful.

John 09.02.2014 03:18

Well done Russia for providing such a refreshing and beautiful display of music and culture for the start of his years winter Olympics. I only hope it will be made available, unedited, on DVD for those of us across the world who really appreciated the remarkable effort from everyone concerned in putting together this amazing spectacle.

Good luck to every country.!!
