I find it awesome that the USA can pass a bill that allows them to detain and torture anyone for any reason, assassinate anyone in any country, and basically kill whoever they want whenever they want for national security and no one gives a frig.... but when they try and pass a law protecting intellectual property, people freak the frig out.

USA is definitely not a superpower anymore (with its rating so badly and unrepairably downgraded). Russia is definitely still behind US, and cannot be a superpower, even though some believe it is on the raise. China is also well behind US (still, at least).

We need less laws, not more.  A 5th grader can tell a crime when they see one.  These kinds of laws usually end up protecting the real wrong-doers.  In the bigger picture, it looks like the oligarchy is getting ready for a GIABO, global insurrection against banker occupation.
