South Stream deal boosts EU energy security

A construction deal for the South Stream pipeline running from Russia to Europe, through Bulgaria, has been signed in Sofia. The Presidents of the two countries, Vladimir Putin and Georgi Parvanov, gave a media conference following the ceremony.

'Russian vigilante' becomes Deputy Minister

Vitaly Kaloev has been appointed as Deputy Minister of Construction and Architecture in Russia's Republic of North Ossetia. Last year Kaloev was freed on parole from the Swiss jail after serving two thirds of his sentence for murder.
