Snooping powers of the UK Government should be widened to cover social media sites. The former head of the UK's intelligence gathering centre GCHQ, Sir David Ormand has put forward the suggestion.

Not to worry, Facebook + Twitter + most Google users' combined IQ isn't more than a total of about 7.That said, what exactly would be spying on them if most of the messages on Facebook for instance, are along the lines of: 'hahaha, lol jk lol u r hottt?'
I was admin on such social site, and I found someday that there is very strange group of people (a kind of sect ) which is manipulating and looking for teenage people and spread satanism BS and other masonic idiocism. Very possible it was driven by Mossad to find people like Breivik to make their terror acts in Russia, Belorus etc... Such social sites like FB opens huge possibilities...
If GCHQ is susspicious of anyone they have the ability now to hack into anyones account anyway. Same as the FBI, so whats the alteria motive?
I don't use Facebook, Twitter or any other social media for these reasons and because I don't like to put my life on display to the whole world!
Sir David Ormand says websites like Twitter and Facebook are being used by criminals, terrorists and pedophiles as a "secret space" in which to communicate. I would remind SIR David that people are innocent until proven otherwise. Also, how would he know unless GCHQ were already filtering everything that comes and goes. People with criminal minds do criminal things (just look at recent gov'ts), so go after the criminals and leave the rest of us alone.I hope the crackdown on "secret spaces" will include the next, and subsequent Bilderburger meeting.
Its was obvious! :)) When these guys gain possibbility to spy people they will always use it against people, and Facebook is ideal huge spying tool.... and moreover not only for spying...it is also ideal for manipulations.... This is Orwell's nightmare in reality but 100 times worse.
The idea of 'rights' is an ancient one. It's definition needs to be revisited by all people, because, clearly, many do not understand what the word means. "Rights" are the legal preservation of individual perogatives and integrity in the face of a controlling authority's ability to do something, 'simply because it is possible technically to do so'. The King of England always had the technical ability (an army) to murder anyone he saw fit to do in. The Magna Carta set legal limits to this ability. The governments of the world now have the ability to snoop into everyone's personal privacy, but RIGHTS are the legal protection which says, even though the ability is there, - it may not be used. This is what is meant by 'Rights'.The weight of legal enforcement to governments of these rights to barring what is possible technically, is that should a government or king do something, 'simply because they have the technical means to accomplish this, the people have a legal right, even obligation to revolt and overthrow that illegal authority. King Charles found this out. King George III found this out in the American Colonies. If the current US or UK goverments, or any other world government decides it can 'snoop on all people, simply because it is techologically possible', they run up against longstanding 'rights' which demand the population overthrow these people and remove them from society.
I think the ex-spy chief need a hugging, not a bugging. I don't think "Sir" David Ormand (Jew) got enough hugs from his mum when he was a little bloke.
Civil Liberties? When have you fought for and bled for those? Not this generation.T he InterNet is a US Military operation, start to finish. The fact that they allow a certain amount of 'slack' does not mean that they have not forgotten where the 'plug' is, or how to pull it. US Politicians are basically ignorant of anything that does not involve fund raising or manipulating voting blocks, especially if it involves Lobbyist Dollars. Obama made a huge error in going after Dotcom to punish the community for a few script kiddy stunts. Beating the floor for revenge for a slip and fall accomplishes nothing. The floor is still to be respected.
If this guy is suggesting this then it's already happening.
We the people should have access to ALL politicians emails phones calls business dealings etc of any type 24/7. This should also cover Police hiercrchy who follow the party lines. These are the true enemy of any people and the police are the point of any goverments spear to push their subjection of any populace. Alas, real people in the world, "people" are too busy working and scrimping to make a life to be bothered by these political architects of chaos!May their b@lls itch and fester and their finger nails fall off!
John do you include yourself in that? your post was boring. Can you not have inventive thoughts instead of criticising others? Go back to your comic book. This is a serious matter for UK citizens! there could be people in the UK that didnt know that and will be very angry at their government for doing this Not everybody in the UK is up to date with the news that MI5 have been listening in to corespondence of its own people and have been doing it for decades .So RT is doing a good job of bringing it to the attention of the public
The easiest way to avoid US-UK nazi governments and their monitoring is to shift your emails to Russian domains. Instead of using hotmail or yahoo try using mail.ru. No western government snoop will get access to these email accounts. Instead of using Facebook or Twitter one can use Odnoklassniki or similar Russian social media sites which are out of reach of Western governments.
