A suicide bomb attack has left four people dead and three wounded in Russia’s Chechen Republic.

The incident happened on Tuesday morning in a village in the Shalinsky region.

The attacker approached a group of policemen waiting at a car wash for their car to be cleaned and set off the explosion.

According to conflicting reports, five people including the bomber himself died at the scene, while three more were wounded.

Alternative reports claim that five policemen and two bystanders fell victim to the blast.

Chechen police say they’ve identified the attacker as 25-year-old Mahomet Shakhidov, a known gang member. The gang has been involved in several attacks on officials and law enforcement officers in Chechnya.

Last week two suicide bomber attacks in the Chechen capital, Grozny, claimed four lives.
