I am sure there is another obscure EU body that exists (or will be created), to "questions the competitiveness" under the acres of EU regulations. Or perhaps, the time for fun and games is over. Europe has been hedging its bets by waiting to see progress on Iranian and Afghani fronts. By "progress", one means the ability to impose the will on Iran to open up its energy reserves to Western energy majors. By "progress" in Afghanistan, one means the ability to impose one's will on the vulnerable Central Asian states, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgizstan. Once that neighborhood obligingly goes up the smoke in the "Arc of Instability" scenario, the energy routes to China go up the smoke as well, including Russia's energy, political and military ties. The idea was, after the chaos engulfs the "three vulnerable", Turkmenistan and Kazahstan would "see the light of the day", and act accordingly. All that was supposed to fill the pipes to Europe, bypassing Russia, and through the well controlled Balkans. Does not look like either scenarios are happening, not only any time soon, but if ever. Now, the battle has shifted to Pakistan, it involves direct Chinese interests. This is enough to keep that problem boiling for another decade or so, while various "strategies" for staying there are mulled over. In the meantime, Denmark is running out of its own natural gas. Other countries are considering their own mid-term position. This is why there may be a chance for de-blocking Nord Stream. But there will be battles over the South Stream, where major investments were made in Yugoslav wars of seccession, and the transit territory secured by billions of dollars thrown into the hopper of civil wars and color revolutions. Now that Turkey is joining South Stream as an independent entity, it is promissing to be quite a show.
