@Lance, Your posts really come across poorly when you insist on words hateful of women.   The same goes for RT for allowing it. What purpose does it serve?

"Free Syrian Army refuses the demand." This sums it all up.

Why you keep calling them rebels?

But when someone cracks down on demonstrations with tanks, artillery, attack helicopters and IFV's/APC's then its obvious why the opposition wants to defend themselves. Syrian President should have learned from Gaddafi, not to do the same as he did.  By the way is there at least one evidence that syrian army attacked peaceful demonstrations with tanks, artillery, helicopters? NO. As well as there is no evidence of lybian air force attack on peaceful deonstrations in Benghazi. So stop telling fairy-tales.

The reason why the opposition in Syria armed themselves was because the Syrian army attacked what was peaceful demonstrations. And when the Syrian army escalated it with shelling of cities with heavy artillery and tanks it became even more violent and became what it is today. I personally believe Assad is the better alternative for Syria since religious minorities were respected and protected. What will come if the opposition takes over is impossible to say for sure, but we can guess.... Islamist like in Egypt, Tunisia and very very soon Libya. One thing that is certain is that some here are hypocrites, they call the opposition in countries like Bahrain, Saudi Arabia etc for democratic peaceful demonstrators and the opposition in Syria for terrorists. But when someone cracks down on demonstrations with tanks, artillery, attack helicopters and IFV's/APC's then its obvious why the opposition wants to defend themselves. Syrian President should have learned from Gaddafi, not to do the same as he did.  Armed themselves ? How ? Chanted 'Allah Akbar' three times and weapons magically appeared in their hands ?
There is nothing hypocritical about calling armed fanatics terrorists. Lets check definition og terrorism - violent acts which are intended to create fear (terror), are perpetrated for a religious, political or, ideological goal. Perfectly fits! Or maybe you prefer calling Breivik freedom fighter?
On e more thing about hypocrisy - when it concerns Syria western media calls rebels freedom fighters, but when it concerns deminstrations in Bahrein, Saudi, the just prefer to avoid such "boring" events..

I say Assad/Putin for president of the US in 2012! Both making Obummer look like the brainless and incompetent political hack that he is. Give us an intelligent enemy over a moronic friend, though I have my doubts as to whether he is even a friend.

Steve: Syria is not only secular but strong modern Arab state. Mr. Hand: who is in the right side of "History"? Do you think we are fools? what about U.S bloody history in Africa? What about the U.S history with the most vile reactionary oil sheiks of the Middle East? What about the U.S history in the Americas? What about the U.S war crimes from Japan to Iraq? What about the British historical betrayal of the Palestinians? The Russians have been in the moral side of history more than the Americans and the British and in the case of Syria, the Russians are in the right side of history. It is shameful naked cynicism of Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and Susan Rice that is hard to witness. I cannot respect these liars of the nation they represent.

For quite some time now, contributors to these discussions were blindly adamant that all of the demonstrators were Saudi financed troublemakers and complete terrorists through and through.  Nobody would listen to the fact that a great deal of the dissenters were not at all in that category.  The reports coming from Syrian refugees are too numerous for anyone to stick with that story - proving you again stood on the wrong side of history.   Now sensing the story of how the opposition are all terroists isn't going to hold up under the slightest scrutiny, Russia moves to save face.   A little more balance to the story from the beginning and you could have made more valid points, but now you just look stupid and incompetent.

"New World Order" what is your problem with Hillary? The war on Syria is not going according to plan? Damn these Russians! You are the most dangerous woman in the world today Hillary. Long Live Great Russia. Because of Russia, today bombs are not ruining down on the children of Syria. Hillary stop, is this you is copying my name? Now dear Hillary, stop arming Al Qaida and stop your cynical deals with the sick and anti-women oil Sheikhs and the Salafists. And why the fake American feminists are silent about your cynical collusion with Saudi Arabia to destroy the last truly secular modern Arab State? But than again, American feminism had always been an extension of U.S imperialistic project.

To New World Order+: Why do you think Syria is the last truly secular Arab country? What about Lebanon? Sorry, but Syria is nowhere close to the secularism of Lebanon.

Everyone is so afraid of this becoming a war, don't worry, Obama's admin's #1 priority is duping the american public once again, not starting a war in Syria. And even when the election is over and if he wins, his admin is far too incompetent to deal with a real conflict anyway.
 No worries guys, Putin versus Obama is like Putin versus a houseplant, no contest.

@RedAli

They have come a bit further then just Ak-47's :P The current rifle in use is the Ak-74 modernized, but they have a few other cool gadgets such as the An-94 which can shoot two round burst almost simultan eous so that both rounds have a bigger chance of hitting exactly the same spot. Lots of interesting rifles and smg's and all the cool armored vehicles.
