Sorry, Johnny, we had Tahrir 20 years ago

Foreign observers are viewing Russia’s post-election protests as a Slavic version of the Arab Spring. But domestic analysts say Russia had its pro-democracy protests 20 years ago, and the middle class they ushered in is in no hurry to see a repeat.

It's good to see that people are allowed to protest.  It's sort of ironic that the protests that ushered in Communism in the 1910s and 1920s haven't really changed.  Russia needs to improve its distribution of wealth and at least make a moderate attempt at meeting its socialist goals without reinviting the totalitarianism of Stalin and the whole post war public suppression idiocy.

sevodny_net,
Nice way to plug your little enterprise I see :-)
The "Internet Generation"? Are you kidding me? The internet overlords and gangsters who wouldn't stand a chance in an actual fight and yet make themselves out to be heroes online? Please spare me this bafoonery.
You had your 15 minutes, no one really takes it seriously anymore, because when trouble is in reality, you fight in reality.

What are these shallow Russian conformists protesting for? More Western / NATO exploitation? Are these protesters pro-CIA/State Department? More drone assassinations? More corrupt Western style billionaires? These Russian protesters should stick to partying all night at their knock-off Western discos and forget about politics. Politics in a dangerous NATO dominated world is no video game.

The "internet generation" is coming of age and it's about to usher Putin and his people out of power.
It may not happen overnight but happen it will. Blaming the west for the discontent being felt by people for a "stolen" election is grossly insulting and might appeal to an elderly, xenophobic generation, but it won;t wash with the protesters - in fact it's likely to make then even crosser.

The Russian government is just looking to blame 'foreign interference' like a middle eastern dictatorship, but with all the articles on RT saying stuff like 'american spring' they shouldn't throw their toy's out the pram when the 'ther side' fires back.
In this case RT has been reflecting what is indeed happening in USA today. Fox News put in some videos from Athens and some from 20 years ago...?!
Might aswell show some pictures of Ivan the Terrible and say that stuff has been going on after the Duma elections.

   &n bsp;   To put protests in Moscow, vis-a-vis what's now happening in Tahrir, is ingenious and shows a gross lack of professionalism on the part of the western commentators making such blantant comparisons!      &n bsp;  It might be just a harmless mischievous fun to most of the protesters in Moscow or in St. Petersburg. To some of us however, the painful scars and memories of the eighties and early nineties are still too fresh to recall! Russia, as a whole has a population of over a hundred million ; the protesters, who number about a few thousands, should start asking themselves: Why are million others staying at home uninterest ed in their mischief? It's because they've likewise, experienced the shock therapies of the early nineties and can easily compare how things were then to how they're now! The elections are a now a fait accompli. Russi a can be more prosperous and be enjoyed by us all; young and old, if we work hard to ensure that it happens, folks!       &n bsp;

RUSSIA was and is still rule by Communist party, they can call themselves whatever they want. The bottom line it does not change anything, just like US was and still is rule by 1% (Wall Street). The conclusion is there is NO REAL democracy in both US and Russia, as such both should STOP deceiving themselves because they are no better than any dictotorship.
